About Franklin County Criminal History

Franklin County criminal records do not sit in one office. Reports and bookings begin with the sheriff or a village police department, case outcomes stay with the proper court, and the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services keeps fingerprint-linked state history. State custody records and the New York State Sex Offender Registry follow separate routes. This private reference resource brings those official paths together so readers can identify the right portal, clerk, address, or phone line.

Why We Built This Site

New York separates police reports, jail bookings, court files, fingerprint records, custody data, and registry entries. In Franklin County, the Sheriff's Department answers booking and county-law-enforcement questions, while Supreme and County Court or the correct village or town court keeps the filed case. DCJS offers Personal Record Review for a person's own fingerprint record. New York State Courts supplies WebCrims and the paid CHRS product, and DOCCS maintains state custody and parole lookups. The site was built to sort out those boundaries and provide researched request steps, fees, contacts, and official links.

What You Will Find Here

  • Official search routes: how Franklin County court cases, arrest records, and registry listings are checked
  • Agency contacts: the county sheriff, court clerks, village departments, DCJS, and DOCCS channels that hold different records
  • Record explanations: what a booking entry, court disposition, CHRS result, and fingerprint rap sheet can and cannot establish
  • Record-sealing information: how New York sealing paths differ and why sealing is not the same as destroying a file

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately run reference site, not part of Franklin County or New York government. Its role is limited to explaining official access paths:

  • We cannot run an official background check or pull a criminal record for anyone
  • We cannot file record-sealing applications, FOIL requests, or other paperwork on anyone's behalf
  • We cannot issue certified copies of any criminal record, court document, or rap sheet
  • We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific charge or case applies to you
  • We cannot guarantee that a government office has not changed a fee, phone number, address, or schedule

Only the record holder, such as the sheriff, originating court, or DCJS, can issue an official copy. Always confirm details with that office.

Search Partners

Third-party providers power search boxes found on parts of the site. A provider controls its own service, results, and prices. If a search leads to a paid signup, the site may receive a referral fee, which supports free access to the reference material. Those tools are separate from Franklin County, New York Courts, DCJS, and the other government sources discussed here.
